Seattle's sacks leader is out for the rest of the playoffs with ligament damage suffered yesterday in the Seahawks Wildcard playoff win over Washington.

“He will have to have surgery,” Coach Pete Carroll said. “So we’ll miss him, which is a big loss for us in a lot of ways. Chris has been a great football player. He’s been just a symbol of consistency for the years we’ve had him. He’s been a great leader for us, too, and just a tough dude.”

With Clemons out for this Sunday's playoff game against the Falcons in Atlanta, first-round draft choice Bruce Irvin will start at the Leo end position. Irvin led all NFL rookies with eight sacks during the regular season and added another after replacing Clemons against the Redskins.

Catch the Seahawks and Falcons this Sunday morning starting at 8 a.m. on Newstalk KIT.
