Looking to increase the competition at the back up quarterback position, Seattle signed Tavaris Jackson to a one year contract on Thursday.

Jackson was the Seahawks starter in 2011, leading the team to a 7-9 record while playing injured most of the season. He was traded to the Buffalo Bills before the 2012 season when Russell Wilson won the starting job in training camp. The Bills re-signed Jackson after the season, but released him last month.

Jackson will compete with free agent Brady Quinn to win the job as Wilson’s back up.
