The Washington State class 2A Baseball tournament kicked off this morning at Yakima County Stadium with two of the final four teams representing the Yakima and Kittitas Valleys.

In a tightly contested game on a gorgeous morning, the Selah Vikings used a single run in each of the first and second innings to take an early lead and then added some insurance with a three-run sixth inning to hold on to an eventual 5-1 win over the Ellensburg Bulldogs. Center fielder Dustin Yates went 1-for-2 with two RBI to pace the Viks. Cort Dietrich tossed a complete seven innings, allowing only an unearned run on just three hits while walking a trio and fanning 10 batters.
