Sheryl Crow Calls for Donald Trump’s Impeachment

Sheryl Crow spoke out against President Donald Trump in a television interview on Thursday (May 18), calling for his removal from office.

Speaking to ITV’s Good Morning Britain, the singer-songwriter excoriated Trump and his administration, saying, “It’s my hope that sooner than later he’s not in office anymore. I mean the word impeachment definitely comes out of my mouth, but what we need is a functioning government, and it’s been, for the last 144 days, nothing but chaos.”

Trump’s presidency has been notable for its turbulence, with his policy proposals proving controversial and federal courts repeatedly striking down his proposed Muslim ban. He and his associates have also been the target of numerous allegations about possible connections to Russia, including allegations that his campaign may have actively colluded with the Russian government to try to fix the election in his favor.

Crow says she’s especially concerned about the environment and security, as well as the massive money that influences Washington politics.

“It actually has kept me up at night,” she admits. “It’s infiltrated our daily lives in a way that is, for me, not healthy … I’m concerned about our democracy, what we count on as Americans. We don’t know what the truth is.”

Most recently Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed a special counsel to investigate Trump and his associates’ possible links to Russia after Trump fired FBI Director James Comey.

“I feel sad for the people that voted for him,” Crow adds of Trump, “that still are hoping he’s going to deliver for them. There are a lot of people who are hurting in America just like all over the world and they believed in him, and it’s been my worry from the very beginning.”

Crow includes some political tracks on her new album, Be Myself, which she just released after a hiatus of several years. She is on the the road this summer for a series of solo shows in May and June before joining Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan and more on the Outlaw Music Festival Tour in July.
