France just passed a new law that requiring schoolchildren to leave their smart phones and smart devices at home.

There already was a 2010 law on the books that banned all smart phones during teaching. There pretty much isn't a single teacher who allows smart phones in class.

The French ban does allow for exceptions -- for kids with disabilities, during extracurricular activities and for "pedagogical use."

My kids attend Naches, they can't use their cellphones during class time.

I'm a little conflicted by this law. As a parent who now has to worry about the possibilities of school shootings, I want my kids to have their cellphones on them. I'm not saying that the phones need to be turned on, but I want them to be able to have quick access to them in case of an emergency.

Do you agree with a cellphone ban in schools?
