The Washington Department of Ecology’s Central Regional Office in Union Gap is planning to hire 72 teenagers this summer as part of the Ecology Youth Corps, and you could be part of the crew if you get your application in.

The program has hired more than 12,000 Washington teens since 1975, offering them work experience and the chance to preserve Washington's beauty and protect the  environment. This is your chance to get that first summertime job.

If you're chosen, you will work up to 35 hours per week from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., Mondays through Fridays.

You will be on one of six crews that are based in Ellensburg, Goldendale, Richland, Sunnyside, Toppenish or Yakima.

There are two three-week sessions that run July 5-26, or July 27-Aug. 17. You can earn $11 an hour.

You need to be between the age of 14-17 as of July 5.

Your application is due by April 3 and is available through area school counselors or at http://www.ecy.wa.gov/programs/swfa/eyc/cro.h
