According to the Washington State Department of Traffic, State Route 540 will be come a toll bridge in December. The reason behind it is to replace the famous bridge that travels over Lake Washington.

“We’re confident we can start tolling SR 520 in December with a system that is reliable, accountable and able to handle more than 100,000 daily transactions,” said Dave Dye, WSDOT deputy secretary.

The "floating bridge" is 48 years old and is vulnerable to singing during windstorms. The new bridge will 6 lanes instead of four and will feature a new lane for buses and carpools going both ways. The plan is to open the new bridge late 2014. For more information, you can visit goodtogo.org/
