Over the weekend the valley lost a true treasure. Dale Carpenter passed away after fighting brain cancer for 4 years.

He had the most infectious laugh, a light up the room smile, a mischievous gleam in his blue eyes and always had a joke to tell.

He was my boss at my dream job! I had dreamed of working on 107.3 KFFM since I was 15 years old. I was hired at 20 years old to work 10am to 3pm on 107.3 KFFM. I loved my job and adored Dale. That's when Dale taught me about giving back to my community. It's something that I now try to teach and instil in my kids.

He played a key role in helping my husband pull off proposing to me. Dale helped arrange for the owner of Las Margaritas, Gloria to come into the radio station and ask me if I would do a TV commercial for her. This was so that my husband could get the proposal on video all the while I think I'm doing a TV commercial. He even had a fake script written up! I didn't realize Dale could be so sneaky until then.

I don't like to think that Dale lost his battle with cancer. For whatever reason he was needed to do more important work for the big guy in the sky.

Dale will forever be in my heart.
