It’s that time of year again -- time to cheer on the Yakima Pippins baseball team!

Last year was the West Coast League team's inaugural year, and the games were fun and enjoyed by many here in the Yakima Valley.

My daughter, Willow, was only 3 years old for last year's opening game. She got to meet the mascot, Scott E. Pippin. She was full of questions and became a little frustrated that he was a walking apple because, as she informed me, “Apples don’t talk!”

I’m looking forward to the FREE EXHIBITION GAME this Wednesday night at State Fair Park, as the Pippins take on their sister team, the Walla Walla Sweets, at 7 p.m.

They had me at “free admission”!

Hope to see you there!
