Tim McGraw’s daughters know the way to a man’s heart. The three young ladies banded together to bake their father a cake celebrating his plethora of recent 2016 CMA Awards nominations.

McGraw posted a photo of the aftermath — a delicious-looking chocolate-iced cake, half gone, with a note from the girls. “They wrote ‘CMA' in chocolate chips…didn’t last long!” the singer writes.

The superstar was nominated for three awards, with a fourth nod to songwriter Lori McKenna for penning his hit "Humble and Kind." McGraw will be up for Male Vocalist of the Year, Single of the Year and Video of the Year, the later two also for “Humble and Kind."

The song has earned many accolades — and rightfully so. Its heartwarming message and the personal conviction with which McGraw sings the ballad has turned the tune into a movement in and of itself, encouraging young people to be uncommonly kind to others and make a difference in the lives of the people around them. The song has even been adapted into a book.

McGraw says the song struck a chord with him a while ago, but only recently did it feel like the right time to record it. A lot of that has to do with his daughters growing up, including his oldest, Gracie, who was preparing to leave for college. Her beginning that new chapter was the emotional backdrop when he recorded the tune, during which he said he was constantly fighting tears.

As the girls become young women, McGraw admits he couldn’t be more proud of them, but credits wife Faith Hill for being such a good role model.

"They’re growing up and turning into beautiful, strong, talented, confident young ladies” he says. “If you have three daughters, you couldn’t have a better role model than their mom."

The 2016 CMA Awards will air on Nov. 2.
