Every year growing up on May 1st my brother and I would go pick flowers and drop them off on the neighbors front porch. It's a tradition that's been around for quite sometime and my Grandparents encouraged that we do it. What they didn't tell me about May Day is what I found on Wikipedia. I did not know that if the person catches you dropping off the flowers or basked a kiss must be exchanged. I would have been walking away real slow from the cute neighbor girls house. Now that I'm a little older I still think it would be fun to do this for certain people that mean something to you. So if you want to make someones day, drop off some May Day flowers and enjoy this beautiful spring weather.

May Day was also celebrated by some early European settlers of the American continent. In some parts of the United States, May Baskets are made. These are small baskets usually filled with flowers or treats and left at someone's doorstep. The giver rings the bell and runs away. The person receiving the basket tries to catch the fleeing giver. If they catch the person, a kiss is exchanged.
