A system being tested by General Motors’ OnStar will let parents track the travels of their teenage drivers. The “Family Link” system lets owners who have OnStar log onto a website to find out where their car is located at any time. You can also get email or text message alerts saying where the OnStar-equipped vehicle is located. The president of OnStar says rather than being a way for parents to spy on their kids, it’s a way for parents to make sure they are connected to their family members when they are on the road. Once the system is tested, it will be offered at no extra charge to all 6 million OnStar users.
