Tucker Beathard revealed the first portion of a double album titled Nobody's Everything in November. The nine-track release includes several songs that detail the struggles the singer went through following his departure from Big Machine Label Group earlier this year.

In a new video for "This Life," Beathard's battles of growing up in the industry come vividly to life with a haunting vocal delivery and emotional lyrics. One of the project's most vulnerable moments, "This Life" was recorded with a one-take vocal performance in the early morning hours and comes from a very dark place. The three-minute video has Beathard alone with his acoustic guitar as he delivers the song's memorable lyrics.

"There's a little kid hanging in a picture frame / That never thought about 21 / He'd break down somewhere / So damn lost he'd let roll off his tongue / This life is gonna kill me somehow / It's gonna chew me up and spit me right out," he sings on the track.

"I jumped into the business and on the road when I was 19 and I was definitely more susceptible to getting carried away with the whole sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll thing," Beathard, tells Billboard. "After a couple years of that, it was leaving me more empty than anything. [In the song I'm] ashamed of it and recognizing it. That's what country music is about — three chords and the truth — and it all came out in that song."

He says the lyric came from a personal place as he reflects on being his own worst enemy.

"I was just being brutally honest with myself," he adds. "I think that's the beauty of not only music in general, but what the roots and foundation of country music was built upon."

The second portion of Beathard's double album, another nine tracks, is expected for release in early 2019.

“I like to think of this first nine as darker — kind of like a journey through a darker place and wanting to get out," he tells Taste of Country. "I think the second half is kind of lighter side. Not lighter as in the music — it rocks harder than the first half — but it’s a lighter ... like a fun light at the end of the tunnel kind of thing."
