‘Twin Peaks’ Rumor: Is David Lynch Crafting a Revival?
Once upon a time, Agent Dale Cooper investigated the paranormal goings-on of a sleepy suburban town, and coffee and fire-walking were the water-cooler chats that got TV fans going. We’re talking of course of the legendary ‘Twin Peaks,’ which some years ago went down in TV history for its shockingly bizarre, and tragically-truncated series finale. Now, rumblings that series creator and eccentric director David Lynch might be working on a ‘Twin Peaks’ revival for NBC, but is there any truth to the rumors?
As any ‘Fringe‘ or ‘X-Files‘ fan well knows, the paranormal procedural owes a lot to the classically weird drama ‘Twin Peaks.’ Part of its creepy charm lay not only in the tense murder-mystery of who killed Laura Palmer, but the supernatural and surreal elements that populated the series. Its cancellation left us on a cliffhanger of Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) seemingly possessed by the vengeful spirit “Killer BOB,” but might fans finally see a revival of the series?
Warming Glow points out that SciFi Now‘s recent interview with ‘Twin Peaks’ co-creator Mark Frost saw him clarifying a revival as âsomething we talk about from time to timeâ¦If we ever do decide to move forward, I know we have a rich trove to draw from,â but are the wheels officially in motion? Both the Twin Peaks Archive Twitter account and Movie Hole seem to believe, given a recent rumor floating around about NBC taking meetings with David Lynch.
According to those reports, a new series would take place twenty-some odd years after the original, reuniting some of the cast and resolving the events of the 1990 ABC series, even if only a rumor for now. Check out a screencap of the gossip below, and tell us in the comments if you’d be interested in seeing a ‘Twin Peaks’ revival series!
