Eric Church was due to accept a massive award at the 2016 CMA Awards, and Faith Hill wanted him to look perfect for his moment.

As requested by the CMA, Church came to 50th anniversary of Country Music's Biggest Night dressed to impress in a black tuxedo and matching bowtie, with a little edge in the form of his signature aviators. But when his name was called to accept the coveted Album of the Year award, his bowtie was a little astray. Thankfully, Tim McGraw's wife was there to help.

Hill couldn't let Church make a speech with a crooked tie, so she took a moment to correct it before she let him have the mic.

“I don’t know which is better,” Church said with a laugh after accepting the award, "This, or Faith Hill helping me fix my bowtie.”

The country singer's Mr. Misunderstood album was up against Maren MorrisHero, Keith Urban's Ripcord, Carrie Underwood's Storyteller and Dierks Bentley's Black in the Album of the Year category. Church dropped a bomb when he released the album as a surprise to fans after last year's CMA Awards, and the significance of the moment wasn't lost on him.

“We gave it to the fans first,” Church said, praising his faithful followers. “It’s because of the fans that this happened, I love you.”

Church was also nominated in the Male Vocalist of the Year category. His song "Record Year" was up for three awards at the 2016 CMAs — Song of the Year, Single of the Year and Video of the Year. His other big moment of the evening came when he took the stage for a second time to perform "Kill a Word." It was a moving performance featuring talented vocalist Rhiannon Giddens.
