What’s An 18-Year-Old Need to Know to Survive in the Big City?

My son Mathew is currently at the University of Washington working on his summer research project. He went from graduating from high school and YVCC right onto the college campus.

He decided that he didn't need his car and would instead be taking public transit.

He went to a dance Thursday night and didn't get home until 1 a.m., which meant riding the bus at 12:30 a.m.!

This scares the crap out of me! He's a kid from a small town dropped into a big city!

OK ... so he's not a kid. He's 18 years old, but he's still my baby. I only hope that I've prepared him for the real world.

What things should every 18-year-old know?
