The 110th Apple Cup football game, pitting cross-state rivals from the University of Washington and Washington State University kicks off at 5 this evening at Husky Stadium in Seattle on Fox-TV.

The game, which was first played in 1900, has the Huskies holding a decisive edge all time, winning 71 of the previous matchups including a current four-game winning streak. The longest streak of eight games has been accomplished by the U-Dub twice from 1959-66 and again from 1974-81.

This year's contest is a far cry from the 2008 game dubbed the "Crapple Cup" which saw both teams enter with a combined one victory.

This year, the huskies can play spoiler with a win that would knock the Cougs out of contention for the Pac-12 championship game. Washington's chances were eliminated with their loss to Stanford two weeks ago.
