What would you do if your child was being bullied for something that could be fixed surgically?

Six year old Gage Berger's parents opted for surgery.

Gage was being bullied for his ears. He was being called 'Elf Ears' and told that his ears looked weird.

Gage's parents Tim and Kellie didn't want Gage scarred with lifelong effects from the bullying. They opted for the two hour ear pinning surgery. They didn't come to the decision of surgery lightly, but after research and carefully consideration.

Gage underwent the procedure. He is now happy and bully free!

I was bullied growing up due to my buck teeth. My parents did not have the financial means for braces to fix them. It scarred me and affected me as an adult, so when I had the money I opted to fix my buck teeth. Not only did I need braces as an adult, but had to have jaw surgery. I would not have needed jaw surgery if I would have had braces when I was younger.

My daughter Shaylee has the same buck teeth and I know she will need braces. She is 9 years old now and doesn't have her adult permanent teeth for braces just yet. She sees the Orthodontist once a year until it's time for her braces. This last visit in June, the Orthodontist mentioned to me privately that if she starts getting teased or bullied that he will put braces on her.

As a parent who was bullied myself as a child ...  I would do whatever I could to not have my child experience the pain I went through. So ... yes I would opt for surgery if could help my child.

Would you opt for plastic surgery to keep your child from being bullied?
