Yakima police officers and Yakima's Target store are teaming up for Heros and Helpers 2012.

The Yakima Police Department and the Yakima Target store are partnering to help 20 youth purchase holiday gifts for the children and their families. Each child will be presented with a $50.00 Target gift card and will be partnered with a Yakima Police Officer to shop for their gifts. Pictures with Santa, gift wrapping and refreshments will be served.   Target will be hosting this event at their store with the hope it will foster a strong relationship between communities and law enforcement.  The store will be closed to the public during this time

27 Yakima police personnel, to include  Chief of Police Dominic Rizzi, Jr. will be volunteering their time to this worthwhile event.

The children were selected by police officers who have had some type of contact with these kids in the line of duty.

Target stores all over the country are taking part in this program along with their local police departments.
