Yakima Valley Community College will offer a new program for individuals over 21 years of age who want to earn their high school diplomas -- High School 21+ begins in January 2015.

High School 21+ allows individuals to apply previously earned high school credit toward their diploma, then finish the rest of the credits required by taking classes at YVCC.

Students are not required to pass the state assessment or complete a senior project. Students may also be able to earn high school credit based on prior knowledge through training and/or work experience. They are required to earn a total of 19 high school credits in the areas of English, math, science, social studies, art, occupational education, health, physical fitness and chosen electives. Classes completed at YVCC lead directly into credit-bearing college courses if students wish to continue and earn their associate's degree.

YVCC offers these programs on its campuses in Yakima and Grandview as well as locations in Ellensburg, Sunnyside and Toppenish.
