Zac Brown Band are appropriately taking it down to the basics for their new video for “Roots,” opting for a simple live performance video with a few elements of nostalgia thrown in for good measure.

The song is, as one might expect, about where you come from and how it brought you to the place you are now, so Brown includes some flashback photos at the beginning of the video to give a little perspective. Though they’re only shown for a split second each, fans can definitely see some old school Brown style, before the beard, the hat and the screaming fans.

At the beginning of the "Roots" video, Brown thanks fans for sticking with him through the years going back to his performances at dive bars around the southeast, then launches into the catchy, straightforward pop-infused country the guys are known for. Throughout the video, fans get glimpses of what appear to be different performances throughout the band’s tour, highlighting moments with fans and other musicians along the way. During one performance, the band even takes the time to honor some service members from the stage.

Zac Brown Band recently played 2017 WE Fest, and their newest album Welcome Home released in May. They’ve been on their Welcome Home Tour, which just hit Bethel Woods Center, the site of the original Woodstock in 1969. The band is also gearing up to perform at a benefit hosted by Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh called VetsAid, alongside Keith Urban and Gary Clark, Jr.
