There are many Christmas events you can do in the Yakima area, beginning now through December 15th!

Listed below you will find stuff to do with the kids or some events you might want to do for date night or with your family and friends. There are parades, cultural markets, bazaars and even reindeer sightings all lined up, just for you. I plan on attending the downtown Yakima holiday tree lighting ceremony on Sunday, December 8th. Maybe we'll see you there!

    SELAH HOLIDAY LIGHTED PARADE

    Friday, December 6th from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm at the Selah Civic Center.

    This annual parade, sponsored by the Selah Downtown Association, runs from Selah Middle School on Wernex Loop, South on 1st Street, to Selah Avenue. A Lighted Truck Rally will be held at the Civic Center immediately following the parade. There will be food trucks, coffee, hot cocoa. Santa will be there for pictures and there will be a showing of The Grinch Movie. The Grinch himself may appear.

    YAKIMA TREE LIGHTING & PARADE

    Millennium Plaza on S 3rd Street, Yakima, 98901

    Sunday, December 8th. The parade begins at 6pm on S 6th Avenue and ends at the Millennium Plaza at 22 S 3rd Street.

    Following the parade is the ceremonial lighting of the Community Christmas Tree at 7 pm at Millennium Plaza.

    This is a fundraiser for the West Valley German Club and the Voices for Children nonprofit. Experience local artisan vendors, german style market food, Gluhwein, wine, beer, live music, fresh holiday wreaths and swags, "make & take" centerpieces, photos with Saint Nicholas, bonfires for marshmallow roasting and more.

    CITY OF TIETON TREE LIGHTING

    The City of Tieton is hosting the Annual Tree Lighting on Sunday, December 8th from 4:30 pm to 6 pm.

    The Highland Food Bank will be raffling off turkeys and hams. Bring a toy or buy a raffle ticket to enter the drawing hosted by Highland Country Fair and Events.

    SANTA TROLLEY at YAKIMA TROLLEY MUSEUM

    From 10 am - 3 pm on December 9th, 10th, 16th and 17th. Trolleys leave the Carbarn at 10 am, 12 pm and 3 pm.

    Santa Claus decided to give the reindeer a break and travel by trolley instead.

    LIVE reindeer will be on location. Pick up some magic reindeer snacks and hot cocoa. Be sure to write a letter to Santa, too.

    LUMINARIA AT YAKIMA ARBORETUM

    1401 Arboretum Drive Yakima, WA 98901

    FREE.
    Friday, December 13th & Saturday, December 14th from 6 pm to 10 pm.

    Over 1,000 lit candles will light the way of the .8 mile loop flat trail of the Arboretum. Please dress for cold weather. No pets allowed except for service animals. Hear music from the Arboretum’s Carillon Bell Tower along the path. Tree Top apple cider, Starbucks coffee, and hot chocolate will be available. The event will also have live music, children's crafts, and shopping in the Tree House Gift Shop. Blissful Bites and What I Crave will be onsite with food and beverages for purchase. Bring clean, new or gently used coats and/or blankets to donate to the Coat and Blanket Drive.

    Entrance drive into the Arboretum will be closed to all traffic, except those with passes, starting at 5:00 PM both nights. Yakima Transit buses will be offering free shuttle rides leaving from the U-Haul parking lot across the street. Visitors can also park at U-Haul and walk to the Arboretum.
