When news came about of Shari's closing the Fruitvale location in Yakima, it was brought with sadness from those who loved that place. It was a staple location for years for hungry families, early morning breakfast-types and people who just needed to grab a pie or two to go (which I've done on several occasions).

Though I'm sad to see them go, it'd be hard to picture that location as anything other than a breakfast place.

If money was no object, here are 5 breakfast restaurants I'd love to see go in that same location on Fruitvale just off of 40th.

IHOP
Oh man, remember when Yakima had an IHOP? I'd go there every so often with my mom. Fantastic memories of going there for free pancake day as well. I would love for Yakima to have IHOP again. In the meantime they have one in Ellensburg.

Waffle House
How about a taste of the South to the Northwest? This 24/7 diner has waffles and most breakfast foods at super low prices. They even have grits on the menu. I mean, it is in the south.

Cracker Barrel
I think Cracker Barrel would do very well in Yakima. It's almost like a gift shop that happens to have a restaurant.

Waffle's Caffe
Yakima already has 2 of them, why not a third location? We have one on the east side and one in West Valley. Having a Waffle's Caffe would be wonderful here.

Pig 'n Pancake
A favorite breakfast spot whenever we go to Seaside Oregon. I think it'd be fun.
