5 Ways to Celebrate the First Day of Spring in Yakima
Well, looks like winter is behind us and now we can celebrate that good-look, breathable air for a while. Unless you have allergies, then I'm sorry if that offends you.
Springtime in Yakima is a favorite time for most in the Yakima Valley as it welcomes all the great flowers and start of new things for many things in our area.
If you're looking for ways to politely celebrate the first day of spring in Yakima, here are a few ideas.
Start going for more walks.
Exercise? What?! Well, even if you're not one to be active, just something about walking around the block once is enough to just get air in your lungs. I'm not talking about jogging up and down the streets like you see many do, or the local tracks after school hours, but even just go outside and walk down the street and back will do wonders for your mood. It does for mine. Nice, too, that depending on how you like your outdoor temperature you can plan it on when you'd prefer to walk.
Eat outside
Yes, another outdoor activity though this doesn't involve walking, but more shoving your face full of deliciousness. There are several restaurants in the valley that offer outdoor dining. Track one down and maybe have lunch with a friend somewhere.
Get yourself a new wardrobe
You know all those clothes you're not wearing? Let someone else wear them. Donate them and grab all new clothes, just for fun. It doesn't have to be high-end stuff, either. Even a quick trip to a local thrift store like Summit Thrift or Goodwill can get you what you need on the cheap.
Plant flowers and stuff now
Depending on what you're planting, now is the perfect time to start a garden. Flowers and/or food or even a little herb garden can do wonders just for fun. Especially if you have kids. Those little plant and seed packets will tell you best times of year to plant stuff so just follow those instructions and you can't lose.
Eat outside... again
What? You were just gonna go out to eat once? C'mon, now with all the great places we have in town. Local taprooms as well like Single Hill, Wandering Hop, Bale Breaker and others often have a spot where you can enjoy a drink outdoors just on their patio. You know you wanna.
