President Donald Trump officially pulled the U.S. out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a 12-nation trade pact the Obama administration spent years orchestrating in order to give the U.S. a new leadership role among Pacific Rim countries.

Trump signed the executive order Monday leaving the remaining 11 TPP countries with an uncertain future.

Trump campaigned heavily against multilateral trade deals like TPP and NAFTA, blaming them for the loss of manufacturing jobs by enticing companies to relocate.

National Cattlemen’s Beef Association president Tracy Brunner expressed concerns about how this might impact U.S. producers.

Brunner says they’re especially concerned the Administration is taking these actions without any meaningful alternatives in place that would compensate for the tremendous loss that cattle producers will face without TPP or NAFTA.

The National Farmers Union, which has staunchly opposed TPP, applauded the action saying the Trans-Pacific Partnership was a continuance of our nation’s deeply flawed trade agenda.
