Alaska Airlines CEO Explains Next steps on the Boeing 737-9 MAX

On January 5th, people flying a Boeing 737-9 MAX from Portland to California were in for a surprise when, for lack of better terms, there was a 'change in cabin pressure'.

It's been a couple of weeks since this incident. In an update, Alaska Airlines CEO Ben Minicucci explained in a YouTube video what steps were and are put in place since this incident.

In the video he apologizes to the people on board for what happened as well as commending the staff on board for their professionalism.

Then he goes on to say that he had the rest of Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-9 MAX aircrafts all suspended until they all went through rigorous inspection. If you had a flight cancel or rerouted recently, this may have been the reason. These aircrafts make up about 20% of their airfleet.

Because of this, they're canceling upwards of 150 flights a day.

He goes on to reassure that Alaska agents are working around the clock to get flights rerouted and rescheduled until all Boeing 737-9 MAX aircrafts have passed inspection to all standards.

Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (released in April 2020), we analyzed the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline from 1976 to 2020 along with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for unleaded regular gasoline from 1937 to 1976, including the absolute and inflation-adjusted prices for each year.
