Best Hiking Spots for Mushroom Hunting in Washington
The Pacific Northwest has the best hiking and mushroom foraging than anywhere in the United States and maybe even the world. Of course I may be biased but there are people who fly into Washington just for our hiking trails and more. Yakima, itself, has a nice Yakima Valley Mushroom Society who do trips often or have people kind of do their own thing. Definitely something worth looking into if you're into that.
Foraging or just admiring, there are plenty of great spots to check out in Washington if you're looking to get out of the home and check out some of mother nature's grooviest art in the form of fungi.
Cougar Mountain
Eve said that Cougar Mountain had some very cool ones and some pretty funky ones, too.
Middle Fork Snoqualmie trail
There's a lot of small mushrooms just about anywhere you look, according to paints_cats. Nothing too big, but still fun to see.
St. Edward State Park
paints_cats also suggested St. Edward State Park which had a ton.
And those were the ones suggested on Seattle Reddit post. The problem with so many people into mushrooms is they don't want to give up their secret spot, especially when it comes to places to find edible mushrooms. I'm sure there are more than this. Make sure you app-chat us to tell us if you know of any hot spots in Washington State for mushrooms of all types.
And if you're in Yakima, join the Yakima Valley Mushroom Society as they host events often to meet up with other local mushroom enthusiasts.
