Recently here, I had a bit of a scare with my heart. I was sitting at home, minding my own beeswax, when I felt my heart racing even though I wasn't doing much. It wouldn't stop so I looked at my Apple watch to check my heart rate — it was about double my normal resting heart rate. Then, my Apple watch sent me a heart warning.

It was a classic case of atrial fibrillation, and the fine professionals in the emergency room were able to zap my heart back into the correct rhythm and rate.

Heart disease, unfortunately, runs in my family, and I've known I've had to keep a closer watch on my heart health since I suffered a mild heart attack and a pulmonary embolism almost 10 years ago. When you're in a position like mine, it's great to be on a first-name basis with a cardiologist, and I'm excited to get established with Dr. Karan Bhatti at Prosser Heart Center in Prosser.

He has all the education, experience, and credentials you want in a cardiologist (you can read all about them here), and the Prosser Heart Center is truly a state-of-the-art facility that is a gem in a smaller community. Many people think you have to drive to Seattle for top-line heart care, but that's just not the case.

Thankfully, Prosser Heart Center is now seeing new patients. Talk with your primary care provider about a referral or call 509-786-5599 to learn more.
