Ahead of their 2019 Taste of Country Music Festival performance, Brooks & Dunn spoke with ToC's Billy Dukes about some suggestions they have as to who should be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Brooks & Dunn are among the acts who are being inducted in 2019, and they say their own inclusion hasn't sunk in.

"No, short answer, it hasn't. Probably never will," Brooks says.

"We were actually meeting with our manager that day putting some [tour] dates together and this lady from the CMA walks in and we were like 'What are you doing here?'" Brooks recalls of the moment they found out about the honor. "Both of us just kind of went, 'No way!' We didn't jump up and down or go crazy or anything. We're both just sitting there going, 'What?'"

As for artists who should join them in the Hall of Fame, they have quite a list.

"There's plenty of them. It's not really our place, I don't guess," Brooks shares. "Hank Jr. is not in, that kind of surprises me. Mac Davis isn't in. There's a lot... Keith Whitley."

The pair performed at the 2019 Taste of Country Festival on Saturday evening (June 8). They also recently recorded a special edition of CMT Crossroads featuring artists from their new Reboot album, including Brett YoungCody JohnsonJon Pardi, Brandon Lancaster of LancoLuke Combs and Midland.

In August, Brooks & Dunn will receive the ACM Cliffie Stone Icon Award, which recognizes those in country music who have "advanced the popularity of the genre through their contributions in multiple facets of the industry."

The duo will officially be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame at a ceremony in October. Other 2019 inductees include Ray Stevens and producer Jerry Bradley.
