Canaan Smith’s Guitar Stolen During Car Break-In
Canaan Smith's Tuesday (June 20) ended in a "nightmare" when he realized that his car had been broken into. The singer shared the unfortunate news with fans via social media, showing a shattered window in the backseat of a rental car.
"The took guitar, in-ears, computers, etc ..." Smith says. A second photo offers a peek into the empty car, where shards of glass lay all over the floorboard and backseat. The "Love You Like That" singer has not shared an update or any indication that his belongings have been recovered.
Musicians are too familiar with this type of theft. Last year, Kacey Musgraves also took to social media when her car was broken into while she was at a concert in Nashville. She wrote about the incident on Twitter and joked that there may even be a song about stolen boots in her future, noting: “Not sure if there’s anything more country."
That thief claimed two pairs of boots from the vehicle — Musgraves’ beloved Luccheses and Charlotte Olympias. “Guess the a–bag who broke into my car tonight is gonna look pretty good,” she said at the time, adding, “Someone had expensive taste and cheap standards.”
Her story had a happy ending, as police arrested a man who tried to return the boots to the Lucchese store the next day. The manager recognized the shoes as the ones he sold to the singer and confirmed that it was her name on the receipt.
Smith is likely hopeful his bad luck will have a similarly good outcome.
