Not much beats sampling fresh hop ales on an early fall evening at Yakima's Fresh Hop Ale Festival. The annual downtown party, set for Oct. 3 this year, generally draws 7,000-plus people who raise their glasses to more than 60 breweries while supporting local arts and science projects. In 2018, proceeds from the festival provided more than $100,000 to at least 20 Yakima County-based non-profit arts and science organizations. This year's VIP tickets go on sale March 13, and general admission passes are available May 15. But we're giving away win-'em-before-you-can-buy-'em passes right now.
