Cruise the Ave Is Canceled for This Weekend

Yakima is tapping the brakes on this weekend's Cruise the Ave -- as of Wednesday afternoon, the event is canceled.

City officials say they haven't received a permit for any of Cruise the Ave's dates for this summer, so as far they're concerned, there's no event.

Although the City Council passed a resolution allowing this year's cruises, organizers still lack a Special Event permit and insurance, Community Development Specialist Colleda Monick explained in an email.

So for now, all plans are ... parked.
