Dan + Shay enlisted Kelly Clarkson for a soaring performance at the 2019 ACM Awards. Together, Dan Smyers, Shay Mooney and Clarkson performed their collaboration "Keeping Score."

After winning Single of the Year and Song of the Year for "Tequila," it was only fitting that Dan + Shay also perform at the awards show.

However, instead of rolling out a live version of their No. 1 acclaimed country hit, Dan + Shay made a great choice in singing their Clarkson collab. The duo received an awesome assist from the original American Idol winner by the second verse.

Clarkson, who donned a black dress and one really long bedazzled earring on her left ear, added her flair and held on for high harmonies for the rest of the song. The trio created several moments starting by chorus two, with Clarkson soaring over tenor Shay Mooney's lead line, while Dan Smyers handled harmonies underneath.

As the camera panned through the audience at the end of the song, it stopped on Luke Bryan, who pointed to his voice box and made a face at the camera like, "Wish I could sing like that!"

The next award to be honored after the performance was Duo of the Year, which went to – you guessed it – Dan + Shay, giving the duo three awards in the first 90 minutes of the program.

Following a commercial break, host Reba McEntire even dubbed the show Dan + Shay's Excellent Adventure.

Dan + Shay earned six ACM Awards nominations in 2019. As a producer on the project, Smyers earned an additional four.
