Dan Newhouse Mentioned On MSNBC For His Vote To Impeach Trump

Residents in Washington state are talking about it: Congressmembers Dan Newhouse (WA-District 4) and Jaime Herrera-Beutler (WA-District 3) were two of ten Republicans who stood firm in their bipartisan votes on House Resolution 24 (H.Res.24) to impeach Donald Trump for "incitement of insurrection" against the United States of America.

When someone from Washington makes the news, it becomes the talk of the town, whether you are chatting on the phone, exchanging pleasantries with family, friends, and co-workers, or weighing in with your opinion about it in a comment section somewhere on social media.

The story of what some are calling a shocking plot twist has made national news in radio, TV, and print. Opinion news shows on the cable TV networks highlighted parts of the speeches of Newhouse and Herrera-Beutler, including MSNBC, a "liberal-leaning" news network.

MSNBC shows The Reidout with Joy Reid, The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell, and The Rachel Maddow Show were quick to mention that 10 Republicans cast their votes to impeach the President, but they only showed segments of speeches from our two Washington state representatives, Newhouse and Herrera-Beutler. A monitor of Fox News primetime shows noted that none of their evening shows played any parts of the speeches from Washington's representatives, although The Ingraham Angle with Laura Ingraham displayed a stock photo of the ten Republicans who voted for impeachment. These votes are a major news story here in Washington state, especially because this is the first time a president of the U.S.A. has been impeached by the House twice, and the first with the most bipartisan votes for impeachment. (To date, Trump has never been impeached in the United States Senate.)

Shortly after the final tally of the votes, President Donald Trump released a video urging nonviolent reactions in the country to his campaign loss and a call for American unity. The Capitol Insurrection of 2021 on January 6th resulted in 5 people losing their lives and the destruction of multiple areas of House and Senate buildings. An investigation of the domestic attack has been called by several members of the Congressional House.
