One woman is dead and many others have been injured as angry supporters of President Trump breached multiple security perimeters and stormed the U.S. Capitol in a chaotic protest aimed at somehow thwarting the inevitable, a peaceful transfer of power, as Congress was meeting. The supporters of the President fought with officers inside the building and outside. Congress was forced into hiding. The National Guard and state and federal police were called in for control, and rare evening curfews were declared in Washington and nearby Virginia suburbs.
