With less than one week remaining until the tax filing deadline, many people around the Yakima Valley are feeling the pressure. But don’t despair, says David Tucker of the Internal Revenue Service.

If your taxes aren’t ready yet, Tucker says, you might want to consider electronic filing.

More than 80 percent of taxpayers now take advantage of electronic filing. And if you make less then $57,000 a year you can take advantage of free file.

The website will help guide you through the process, do the math for you and then you can send your tax return electronically.

And Tucker says filing electronically allows you to get your tax return faster by having it directly deposited into your bank account.

The software can be found at IRS.gov.
