Gas prices are still on the rise no matter where you go and where you look with no signs of slowing down. Michigan State University took a look at grocery prices today compared to recent years and it's not looking good.

High prices means people are finding more and more way to save money where ever possible.

How high are prices up?

From MSU Today:

After a period of cooling inflation, food price increases have begun to accelerate again in recent months. Today, grocery or “food-at-home” prices are 2.7% higher than a year ago and remain more than 25% higher than five years ago.

Cost of Holiday Food Items

Many items saw an increase while there is one that saw a decrease from sales from last year to this year.

Turkey is up 39.9%.
Beef roast is up 18.4%.
Coffee is up 18.9%.
Biscuits and rolls are up 3.9%.
Fresh Vegetables are up 2.8%.
Canned Vegetables are up 4.9%.
Pies are up .4%.

And while so many holiday staples are up, there is one that saw a decrease.

Wine is down -1.2%

These numbers come from the USDA and Bureau of Labor Statistics as listed by MSU.

In turn, to help, plenty of grocery stores are offering as many deals as they can. No doubt you've seen 'meat sales' at your favorite local stores recently.
