Zillah Parks to Receive Major Upgrade with $341,000 State Grant
Big Changes are coming to a park in Zillah thanks to a state grant. City officials say they've received a $341,000 grant from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office.
MORE POSSIBILITIES FOR YOUNG KIDS
The money will be used to create more youth sports facilities at Adams Park. A press release from the city says phase one of the project will feature two multi-use grass fields sized for youth-8 soccer and Tball, as well as two pickleball courts. “Youth-8” refers to fields designed for children 8 years old and younger. The fields are smaller than standard adult fields-typically 25 to 35 yards wide and 15 to 25 yards long-giving young players space to run while keeping the game manageable for their size. Field lighting will also be installed.

IT'S BEEN DECADES SINCE THE PARK SAW CHANGES
Zillah Mayor Dr. Scott Carmack says there's big benefit for the community. He says the park hasn't seen an upgrade in 30 years. "This grant will create a safe, active space where kids can enjoy the outdoors and families can gather, helping keep Zillah a great place to live, shop, stay and play.” The city plans to reconfigure the existing playground and a picnic shelter.
BIG PLANS IN THE FUTURE
City Administrator Michael Grayum says improving Adams Park adds to all the other work the city has done including the new splash park at Stewart Park, new playground equipment, six pickleball courts, and the dog park at Loges Park. He says they also plan to work closely with the Zillah School District on a long term plan to create the Zillah Sports Hub creating some 20-acres of multi-sport facilities.
