There are many types of sign language dialects, just like there are Southern drawls, quick talking East Coasters, and other regional and cultural sign language dialects.

My daughter and I have decided to check out the upcoming ASL sign language classes being offered at the Union Gap Library. This is really exciting news for us because my 14-year-old nephew is mute and he speaks using ASL and with a "talking" iPad app.

Why Learning ASL Benefits the Greater Yakima Valley Community

Learning ASL is going to help you to communicate with persons who are mute and deaf**. Who knows, learning how to sign in ASL could one day it save somebody's life!

These classes at the library are for all age groups; everyone is welcome and the classes are free.
