
Yakima MLK DAY 2026 – See the List of the Week’s Activities
Youth Basketball Tournament
This year, the MLK Day kids basketball tournament returns! The event is for grades K – 8th are invited for the MLK BasketballTournament. There is a $30 registration fee per child, and it will be a three-day event.
Movie Screenings at YVC College
The movie Selma will be shown at Yakima Valley College on both the Grandview and Yakima campuses. Monday, January 12th at 11 a.m. at 1284 500 W Main St in Grandview, and 12 p.m. at the Yakima Campus (W Nob Hill Blvd &, S 16th Ave) on Wednesday, January 14th.
MLK Day Peace Marches: Yakima, Toppenish, and Moses Lake
Here's how MLK Day will go in Yakima. There will be a peace march followed by a speaker program (this year available on Zoom for those who can't make it in person), and wraps up at the Henry Beauchamp Community Center with a free soup kitchen for the public.
Yakima Peace Walk:12:00PM | Assemble @ 11:30AM near S 5th Ave and MLK Jr. Blvd.
Beginning @ N. 5th Ave & MLK Jr. Blvd all the way to the Yakima Convention Center (10 N. 8th St).
Convention Center Speaker Program; Special Guest speaker will be Tyler Monk, an inspirational story teller. The event begins at 1 p.m.

LOCATION: Surf and slide water park, parking lot- 401 W
4th Ave towards Moses Lake Civic Center Auditorium at
401 S Balsam St.
The speaker program starts at 5:30PM.
MLK Day Commemoration Church Service: On Sunday, January 18th, there will be a MLK Jr. Day commemoration church service at Central Lutheran Church (1604 W Yakima Ave) in Yakima.
