Yakima Man Arrested for Felony Harassment After Threatening Woman and Her Dog
A man from Yakima was arrested Sunday afternoon on a charge of Felony Harassment after police say he threatened to shoot a woman and her dog during an encounter in the 1100 block of West Chestnut.
A SIMPLE STROLL TURNS SCARY FOR A WOMAN AND HER SON
The incident happened around 6:00 p.m. when the woman and her son were walking their dog in the neighborhood. Police say a man in his early 20's approached them, asking if their dog bites. The woman responded that her dog does bite and began to walk away. However, the man continued to approach them, prompting the woman to say again that her dog bites as she tried to leave the scene.

THE MAN BRAGGED HE WOULDN'T BE CAUGHT
The affidavit from the Yakima County Prosecutor’s Office states that at this point, the man stopped and made a threatening remark, saying he could "get away with" shooting her dog. The woman told police that the man then pulled up his shirt, giving the appearance that he had a gun in his waistband. Although she did not see a firearm, she noticed something in his waistband.
THE MAN THEN THREATENED THE WOMAN AND HER DOG
The man reportedly said, “as a matter of fact I’ll shoot you and your dog,” before walking away from the scene. The woman immediately called 911 and Officers located and arrested the suspect a short time later. He was booked into the Yakima County jail on Sunday afternoon on charges of Felony Harassment.
JUST ON A SIMPLE STROLL ON A SUNDAY
The woman told officers she feared the man was going to shoot her, her son, and their dog, though no injuries were reported. She described the encounter as a frightening experience but emphasized that she was simply out walking her dog when the man approached and issued threats.
