Can Seattle Mariners Fans Sue the Etsy Witch?
Once again, the Seattle Mariners won't be going to the World Series. It was a valiant effort, but it wasn't meant to be. And around my kitchen table, you heard two topics of discussion. One that many Mariner fans were saying, "We'll get them next year!" and the one that might have only been around my house, "Can we sue the Etsy Witch"?
How Does An 'Etsy Witch' & The Seattle Mariners Connect?
If you've not heard the details of the 'Etsy Witch', I went more in-depth on the topic, and you can read it here, but in a nutshell, a Mariners fan bought a 'Curse Lifting' spell from Etsy for less than $20, and announced it on social media.
Next thing you know, the Mariners' winning streak was on, and word of the curse-lifting spell made the rounds. Then something happened, her Etsy store closed down, and now the Mariners are not heading for the ultimate Baseball victory.
Yes, as of this writing, her Etsy store has shut down. Maybe she got too busy, or went on vacation, or didn't want the fame? Only she knows why she closed, and whether its closure is temporary or permanent. It is weird, and leads to the question my friend asked:
"Can the fans sue the Etsy Witch?"
Can The Seattle Mariners Fans Sue The Etsy Witch?
Before I state anything, know I'm not a legal expert, but I've watched enough Judge Judy that I consider myself an unofficial paralegal.
Sure, fans can sue her; you can sue anyone about anything, you probably won't win, and you'll waste money and time. Plus, why would you sue? What are you out? Hope? A good time? If that's the case, why aren't there more lawsuits against scratch tickets?

On top of that, the curse might be lifted, and the team just didn't play hard enough to win that last game? Now, if that guy had spent the $15.99 to make the Mariners the best team in the world and they lost, then he might have a lawsuit, but then, what is he out? $15.99 and change? Not worth the hassle of a lawsuit.
There is one bit of suspicion... the Etsy Witch's store says she's Canadian, and the Mariners lost to a Canadian team... Coincidence? (Probably).
The Etsy Witch did her thing, whether it worked or not, I don't know. I DO know that my family and friends had some fun, and I thank her for that.
