Yakima’s Funniest Accidental Collections: From Snoopy to the Strange
What is the trinket that you accidentally collected? The one thing that everyone thinks defines you, because you have so many of them. What are Yakima's accidental collections?
We are in no shortage of things to collect, and great stores and shops throughout the Yakima Valley for us to feed this surprise compulsion of hoarding a certain item.
It might have started out with one because you liked it, thought it was cute, so you got it. Then your birthday rolls around, and every gift you get is another one that adds to your unintentional collection.
Yakima Resident's Accidental Collection Of Snoopy Stuff
This is the case with my sister-in-law, who has, I'm willing to place a small bet, one of the biggest Snoopy collections in Yakima, if not Central Washington.
She has all the Hallmark figures, clocks, books, posters, toys, and dolls. This past Christmas, she received not one but two Peanuts/Snoopy standing kitchen mats. Why two? Because my father and I didn't communicate.
She never sought out to collect Snoopy, but one comment from when she was a little girl has led to a lifetime and a household full of Snoopy memorabilia.
That's just one person and one collection in the Yakima Valley. We asked our listeners what some of their accidental collections were.
The Qualifications Of Our Yakima Valley's 'Accidental Collections' Question
We received quite a response, so we had to narrow down what we felt counted in our fun question. The collection had to be accidental, and more than "a couple". For example, one gentleman from Zillah chimed in about collecting classic cars, where that is quite an awesome achievement; he only has 2, and he's trying to seek them out. Not quite the accident.
