THE QUEST: FINDING RESTAURANT SALSA THAT DOESN’T MAKE ME SMH

When I go to a restaurant for Mexican food (especially on Taco Tuesdays), I love to put that spicy salsa on my rice. I also love using their salsa as a dip for my chip! I despise eating in a restaurant if I don’t like their salsa. Don’t get me wrong, I will still eat their salsa, especially if a friend has invited me to eat there for lunch, but I will be SMHing all during lunch.

If a restaurant salsa doesn’t have the right mix of salt (savory) and kick (peppery heat), then in my opinion, the whole kitchen might as well pack it up and go back home.

INGREDIENTS IN THE PERFECT SALSA

Award-winning salsas have the magical blend of roasted tomatoes, roasted garlic, onions, peppers, cilantro, lemon/lime juice, a splash of some kind of vinegar, and some very spicy seasonings. I don’t know which spice is the best to add, I just know it when I taste it. One restaurant in Yakima has salsa that is so good, I’ve been known to ask for the largest size of salsa they’ve got. But they’ve been skimping on me lately, so now I’m in the market for another restaurant salsa to fall in love with.

I am a member of a Facebook group that has recently given me much entertainment (and knowledge) about the inner goings of the Yakima Valley. I decided to ask the group members if they would be willing to share with me their favorite restaurants to go for salsa. Here are the results (in no particular order)!
