As a slew of country artists headed out on the road on the festival circuit this past weekend, many thoughts turned to the plight of Granger Smith, who recently lost his 3-year-old son River when he drowned at the Smith's family home in Texas. So it came as no surprise that one of those talented country artists who could adequately find a way to deliver the most perfect of tributes would be Justin Moore.

During his set at the Country Fest in Ohio on Friday (June 21), Moore was readying his performance of “If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away” when he addressed the crowd.

“The last time I played here, Granger Smith was here with us,” said Moore, whose new album Late Nights and Longnecks is set for release July 26. “Granger and his wife have dealt with a difficult time over the last two or three weeks.”

Moore then expressed his condolences to the family in the best way he knew how.

“I will send this song out to [Smith] and his wife and his son who is up in heaven right now,” said Moore, who performed at the music festival as part of a lineup that included Brantley GilbertAshley McBryde and more.

Moore delivered what could only be described as an emotion-packed performance from the first note to the last. Click the video at the top to view his powerful performance.

Of course, the Arkansas native is known best for his memory-heavy anthems, including his current single, “The Ones That Didn’t Make It Back Home,” which is currently approaching the Top 15 on the charts.

Dierks Bentley and Florida Georgia Line are also among the country artists who have offered prayers, condolences and tributes in the wake of River's death.
