Kacey Musgraves Fires Up Fans With Intimate Pre-Lollapalooza Concert [Pictures]

Ahead of her headlining Lollapalooza set on Aug. 4, Kacey Musgraves hit the stage at Chicago's Metro on Aug. 3 to perform an intimate concert for a few hundred lucky fans.

The room was filled with pink cowboy hats and fans with light-up roses in one hand, and beers in the other. Nashville's Sparkle City Disco kicked off the show, performing a DJ set to pump up the already excited crowd.

The show sold out in a mere minute, with re-sale tickets selling for hundreds of dollars online. Fans camped outside the venue in the morning, almost ten hours prior to doors opening, to get a close spot by the barricade for such a rare experience.

Once the time passed projected Musgraves' start time to 11:31, fans began chanting, "Kacey, Kacey, Kacey." Minutes later her backing band took the stage to deafening screams from the crowd. Musgraves walked onto the stage with her acoustic guitar in hand and yellow and orange spotlights projected onto her silhouette.

She kicked things off with "Slow Burn," and people in the floor section of the audience sang the lyrics back to her and swayed along to the rhythm.

Musgraves told the crowd that she was thrilled to be performing there and at Lollapalooza. She also said that the venue told her she could play as long as she wanted, and she did. Musgraves performed an 18-song set for the crowd.

Musgraves was frequently at the edge of the stage interacting with fans close to the stage during songs, while also paying attention to the balcony and back floor section. She also encouraged fans to introduce themselves to the person standing next to them and give each other high-fives.

Without her entire concert production, graphics and screens, fans concentrated more on Musgraves' vocals and the camaraderie between the fans in attendance. This concert had fewer cell phones in the air and more people enjoying the moment.

Not only did Musgraves perform her hits and songs from her discography, but also covers of other artists. She performed the Flaming Lips' "Do You Realize??" and Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive." Each cover she performed, she put her unique spin on that complemented her vocals.

She closed the epic night filled with music and memories fans won't soon forget with a lively rendition of "High Horse," which the crowd screamed back to her. The concert was a treat for fans seeing an arena headliner come to a smaller space and remind fans just how she got to where she is.

Musgraves went on to make headlines during her Lollapalooza performance on Aug. 4 when she paused her show to speak out about the mass shootings that took place in El Paso and Dayton that weekend.

"I can't even believe that we're having to process the s--t that's happening in the last twenty-four hours, much less everything that's happened in the last two hundred and f--king fifteen days in America. I don't know what the answer is but obviously something has to be f--king done," she told the audience, adding, "Maybe somebody will hear us if we all yell together to say, 'Somebody f--king do something.'"

She led the crowd in chanting those words back to her, and the footage went viral after Fox & Friends called Musgraves out on the air.
