Bright Idea? Is Washington State Banning Light Bulbs?
Hold on, now. You can't just say that light bulbs are banned now, can you?
Can you?
Have you seen the light bulb selection in stores recently? More and more you're finding LED bulbs which last longer and are better for the environment than the old, classic standard incandescent light bulb. According the The Hill, starting in August it will be a nationwide ban on incandescent bulbs in favor of LED ones.
The good news is this will save you money in the long run as, when those older bulbs finally do burn out even I've been slowly replacing them one-by-one and not only do they look cleaner but they do seem to last longer.
Even the Department of Energy is behind this phase stating that the newer light bulbs are 75% more energy efficient than the old ones. If you have kids who never turn off the lights, no doubt you'll see this on your power bill. DOE also says these bulbs can last about 25 times longer than the others.
Though it also doesn't seem that incandescent bulbs will be completely off the market. Mostly the common everyday ones you see in lamps and light fixtures.
