Luke Bryan has a Halloween costume already, but he can't share what it is — he doesn't know. The singer's wife, Caroline, is responsible for picking his costumes, and he won't get to see it until he slips into it.

"Caroline picks the outfit every year and I have no choice," Bryan told media outlets backstage at the Grand Ole Opry's Goes Pink event — a benefit for Susan G. Komen — earlier this week.

"I heard that it's feathery this year," he added with a laugh.

He won't have to wear it long, however — the "Knockin' Boots" singer is in a busy season and will be headed back on the road shortly after Halloween. "I'm going to fly in and do Halloween and then I have to go do [American] Idol," he shares.

Bryan will be judging the third season of the competition show's revival, its 18th season overall. Fellow judges Katy Perry and Lionel Richie will be alongside Bryan when the new season airs sometime in 2020.

"So I'll fly out late Halloween night and go do Idol," he says, sharing a bit of his family's Halloween tradition. "We have a perfect neighborhood for it. We do a picnic a couple of hours before dark all of the parents get around and the kids can tear the neighborhood down, it's pretty special."

Bryan doesn't seem like the type to scare easily, but he says wife Caroline got him good last year when she put up a decoration he wasn't aware of.

"So my wife bought those things where the witch taps on the glass. I get home off the road, it's like 12:15 at night and I'm brushing my teeth and I hear something go (Bryan makes tapping noises)," he recalls. "This witch — you stick it to the outside of your glass — and I look up and there is a witch tapping. That's what my wife does to me during Halloween."

The encounter even made him choke on his toothpaste.

Bryan was at the Opry on Tuesday (Oct. 22) to flip the switch to turn the Opry pink for breast cancer awareness month, but he was also surprised with the ACM Album of the Decade award for his 2013 album Crash My Party. It's not clear if that shock also made him choke.
