Washington Man Gets Caught Using Mannequin as Passenger in HOV Lane
I've heard so many stories of people trying to sneak into that HOV lane to get to your destination quicker. This includes but certainly isn't limited to mentioning someone driving a hearse claiming that there is another body in the car, albeit one that's laying flat and about to be put 6 feet under.
I've always heard stories but nobody I knew, personally, ever attempted any of these ideas.
Well, someone was brave enough to try and got caught for it.
This was from an HOV stop NB 405 near SR 900 yesterday by an
@wastatepatrol trooper. #Reminder that the HOV law still requires the passenger to be #human. #DoesNotCount.
The photo shows the passenger as a dressed mannequin. Yep, definitely not human. Though I'm sure there's an '80s movie reference in there somewhere.
This happened near SR 900(a road that connects from Tukwila (south of Seattle) through Renton and ends through Issaquah) and the northbound 405 so in the Renton area.
And if you've been on that road at almost any time of day, you'll know why they tried to get away with driving on the HOV lane. That road is always congested. Still, not enough excuse to break the law.
The HOV lane is there on purpose. I always kinda considered it a bonus or perk for carpooling.
Fortunately, we don't need HOV lanes like that in our area but you can only imagine the creativity people would have around here when it comes to doing something like this in hopes to get away with it.
