I was thinking there aren't nearly enough pear flavored treats. Everything is apple or cherry or whatever-berry, but not too many use pear so I took it upon myself to make these. Super easy to make that anyone can make these, too.

I'm not the best at baking so I like using as little ingredients as possible. In this case, it only took three.

  • Nutella
  • Pears (4 or more)
  • Puff Pastry (found in the freezer section)

Thaw the puff pastry. One or both, however much you want to use.

First of all, you have to cook the pears down - a lot. You'll probably need about 4 or 5 pears. I usually shred them using a cheese shredder. Pears retain a lot of water so this may take a bit. Put them in a pan over medium heat for a while. If you wish to sweeten up the pears by adding sugar or even brown sugar to caramelize them, feel free. Once it's a nice texture and they're pliable, let the mixture cool in the fridge.

Puff Pastries come folded in thirds. Before they thaw completely, that's a good time to break them in thirds, or you can keep it whole, but it's easier for me to roll them smaller and individually. While they're still a bit frozen, slather on some Nutella. Then, spread the cooled pear shreddings.

Roll'em up nice and tight. Like most baked pasteries, you can paint the tops with an egg wash. Just take an egg, crack it, scramble it in a cup or bowl and paint the tops. Pop them in the pre-heated oven at 400 degrees for about 10 minutes or so.

Once they're done, I pop them in the fridge. Once they're cooled, they're easier for me to slice. I suppose you could just eat them while they're still warm. That's up to you.

Nice n' easy and something the kids will love, I guarantee!
